AUVSI Names Member, Chapter Awards

Presented To Member Of The Year Tom Reynolds And Several AUVSI Chapters

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) named Tom Reynolds as AUVSI Member of the Year and presented several Chapter Awards during ceremonies today at XPONENTIAL 2018, the largest trade show for the unmanned systems and robotics industry, which is taking place this week at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.

Reynolds is the vice president of business development and strategy at Hydroid, Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime and manufacturer of advanced autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The company, which is headquartered in Pocasset, Mass., develops marine robotics systems for the marine research, defense, hydrographic and offshore/energy markets.

Reynolds is also chair of the AUVSI Unmanned Maritime Systems Advocacy Committee, which is a position he has held since the committee was formed last year.

“Tom is a prime example of the opportunities unmanned systems provide to our veterans,” said Brian Wynne, AUVSI president and CEO. “A retired Navy officer who served six tours of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Tom is now a successful leader in the unmanned maritime systems industry who also helms our active and growing UMS committee. We appreciate his dedicated service to our nation, our industry and AUVSI.”

AUVSI also presented awards recognizing its chapters and members for their support of the association: Chapter of the Year, AUVSI Saguaro in Arizona; Chapter Leader of the Year, Jeff Adams of Unmanned Aerial Systems Development for his role as president of AUVSI New England; Chapter Communications, AUVSI Silicon Valley; Chapter Development, AUVSI DC Capital; and Chapter Recruitment, AUVSI Florida Peninsula.

The AUVSI Membership Awards promote excellence and leadership throughout the year. Award winners serve as inspirational leaders to the AUVSI community as they embody the core values of service to the unmanned systems industry and commitment to the association’s mission.

“AUVSI chapter members are expert local resources for unmanned technology,” Wynne said. “They personify the vibrancy of our industry and are making important contributions to the development of innovative transportation systems in cities and towns throughout the nation and around the world.”
