Person Exiting Aircraft Fatally Injured By Propeller

Canadian Investigators Said He Walked Forward After Getting Out Of The Plane

A 23-year-old Canadian man was fatally injured last week when he walked into the turning propeller of the airplane he had just exited.

The online news site tpnewswatch.com reports that the accident happenedlast Wednesday at the Kakabeka Falls airport. When emergency crews arrived at the airport at about 1100 local time, they pronounced the person dead at the scene.

Regional senior Transportation Safety Board investigator Ray McNabb told CKPR radio that a  float plane had landed on the Kaministiquia and was approaching the shoreline when the accident occurred.

The pilot of the Cessna 150 in which the victim had been a passenger came to a stop and shut down the engine, but “the passenger had exited the aircraft too soon and walked forward into the propeller,” before it came to a complete stop, McNabb said.

The investigation by the TSB is ongoing.
