Source: Sallie Stratton, wife of Capt. Charles W. Stratton, who was lost over Vietnam on January 3, 1971. After over 35 years of grief, and many questions about her husband's final moments, Sallie finally received confirmation of the circumstances of her husband's death on July 5, 2007, thanks to the efforts of the US military's Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command. Hundreds of family and friends gathered in October 2007 to celebrate now-Lt. Col. Stratton's life... in stark contrast to his 1977 memorial service, which was clouded with uncertainty.
