Four Fatally Injured At Air Show In China

Pilot And Three Passengers Were Aboard The AVIC LE-500 When It Went Down

Chinese officials have confirmed that four people were fatally injured when the AVIC LE-500 airplane they were aboard went down at about 1600 local time Thursday at an airshow in Shijiazhuang, capital of China's northern Hebei province.

Those fatally injured included the pilot and three passengers. The State Run Xinhua news agency reports that a witness said the plane "suddenly plunged from the sky" and impacted terrain.

The air show was being sponsored by the AVIC flight club. It attracted more than 50 GA manufacturers, and about 150 aircraft were expected to attend the event.

The show is a traditional air show, featuring acrobatic performances and static displays.
