Will Conduct Oil, Debris Analysis
Aero-News got word on the floor of Heli-Expo 2007 the United
States Coast Guard has awarded Jet-Care International a five-year
contract to provide oil and debris analysis for the Turbomeca
Arriel 2C2CG engines that power the service's HH-65 Dolphin
helicopters. Jet-Care will provide analysis for more than 200
engines.
An prior agreement between the USCG and Jet-Care began in
November 2005. The new agreement will extend the relationship for
multiple years, providing an initial one-year contract with four
one-year options.
"The US Coast Guard has been very impressed not only with the
analytical tools made available by Jet-Care but also by
Jet-Care’s responsiveness to our needs," said USCG Chief
Warrant Officer Elsworth H. Smith, lead USCG technical services
representative working with Turbomeca. "For the past 14 months
Jet-Care has demonstrated the technology, data quality and timely
response that can improve the long-term efficiency and maintenance
of these engines."

Along with its
sister-company, Spectro, in the United Kingdom and Switzerland,
JetCare monitors the health of more than 40,000 engines, in over 80
countries, seven days per week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a
year.
The USCG and other operators are able to access Jet-Care’s
oil analysis reports through the company's Engine Condition Health
Online (ECHO) software (shown at right).
The reporting program allows operators to receive a small data
file from Jet-Care by email, and when samples have been analyzed
and go on to review the alert category, results and trend the
data.
Jet-Care's oil analysis program provides a means of checking the
metal content and other contamination within the oil system.
Jet-Care uses the industry’s most advanced techniques and
equipment including SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopes) and ICP
(Inductively Coupled Plasma) spectrometers and analyzes not just
PPM (parts per million)... but down to one part per 100
million.
