PurePower Engine Selected For VietJet A320neo, A321neo Aircraft Order

Will Power All 63 Aircraft Ordered Recently

Vietjet has selected the Pratt & Whitney PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine to power their order of 63 Airbus A320neo and A321neo family of aircraft. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2017.

The PurePower Geared Turbofan engine family has more than 7,000 orders, including options, with more than 70 customers from more than 30 countries.

"We take great pride in Vietjet selecting the game-changing Geared Turbofan engine to power their aircraft fleet," said Rick Deurloo, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Pratt & Whitney. "Customers continuously recognize that this engine represents the pinnacle of modern aviation technology with unmatched double-digit reductions in fuel burn, noise and emissions."

The PurePower engine family has completed more than 58,000 cycles and 35,000 hours of testing.

Vietjet operates an extensive flight network in Vietnam and is expanding its operation throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The airline's mission is to meet the increasing travel demands of domestic and international travelers by providing on-time flights and a high quality of service, helping to lead the Vietnam aviation industry into a new era.
