AUVSI Welcomes Former CRPAA Members

Industry Group Expands Membership To Include FAA-Approved Remote Pilots

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) will welcome members of the Certified Remote Pilots Association of America (CRPAA), as the organization dissolves. Former CRPAA members will receive full AUVSI membership benefits for the remainder of 2019, with the option to renew their membership going forward. In addition, AUVSI will now be offering a Remote Pilot Membership level, expanding upon its Remote Pilots Council (RPC).

“We are honored and excited to welcome the CRPAA community into our organization and we look forward to working with these exceptional remote pilots,” said Brian Wynne (pictured), president and CEO of AUVSI. “With the addition of a new membership option, AUVSI continues to position itself as the premier organization for commercial UAS operators.”

Founded in 2017, the RPC works within local AUVSI Chapters to support the future of commercial unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operations by building a culture of professionalism and trust. By participating in AUVSI’s Remote Pilot Membership, individuals can position themselves as a leader in the unmanned systems community, helping to shape the future of this fast-growing industry. RPC members will have access to tools and information to help them enhance their operations.

Starting in 2019, RPC leaders will be organizing events, workshops and outreach programs in conjunction with the FAA and AUVSI’s Trusted Operator Program (TOP). Launched in November 2018, TOP is a UAS community initiative to facilitate best practices, codes of conduct and professionalism for operators of services provided by UAS, also known as drones.
