Spirit Flight Attendant May Be Disciplined Over Tarmac Photos

Posted Images On Facebook Showing Her In The Nacelle Of An Airliner

A Spirit Airlines flight attendant may find herself in hot water after posting pictures on Facebook taken of her sitting in the nacelle of an airliner on the tarmac at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.

Television station WLS in Chicago reports that the FA ... Ericka Paige Deihl ... was seen on the tarmac outside the airplane by passengers as the plane was boarded. One of the passengers took down Deihl's name ... she was assigned to work the flight ... and contacted the station, saying they couldn't believe what they had seen.

Photos of the flight attendant had been posted to Deihl's Facebook page. When she was contacted by WLS, she at first said she didn't know anything about them, and later said she was not able to discuss the issue. Shortly after that conversation, according to the report, the photos were taken down, and the entire Facebook page was later removed from the social media site.

A Spirit Airlines executive told WLS that what Deihl appears to be doing in the photos "absolutely goes against Spirit policy." A company spokesperson said that they would conduct an internal investigation.

A Chicago Department of Aviation spokesperson said that anyone on the tarmac is required to be properly badged or escorted, and it was not known if either Deihl or the person taking the photos had such credentials. In comments on Facebook before the photos were taken down, the 41-year-old flight attendant said they she could probably be fired for them.

In the meantime, hundreds of current and former Airline staffers, many of them providing similar photos to that which caused the editorial uproar, are taking the FA's side -- basically stating something that a number of ANN staffers can attest to, for themsleves... "nearly everyone who's worked for an airline has something like this..."
