Hartzell Joins The Aerospace Family

New Company Separate From Hartzell Propeller

Tailwind Technologies Inc. of Piqua, OH has formed Hartzell Aerospace, which will serve as the consolidating platform for the aerospace companies Tailwind holds, apart from its general aviation business, Hartzell Propeller Inc.

Following its growth and diversification strategy, Tailwind has amassed a variety of aerospace-related companies, products and manufacturing capability to diversify and leverage its general aviation holding, Hartzell Propeller Inc.  These acquisitions include Industrial Tube Company, Electrofilm Manufacturing Company and AcousticFab.  These companies present a potent combination of engineered products for aircraft environmental control and auxiliary power unit systems, and possess a broad expertise in composite structures, specialty materials, circuit design and sound attenuation.

James W. Brown III, president of Tailwind, said, "The creation of Hartzell Aerospace, a sister unit of Hartzell Propeller, will simplify customer access to these unique aerospace products and capabilities, broaden the range of products and services offered to our customers and serve as the natural home for additional acquired companies and content."

Hartzell Aerospace will be led by president David Schmidt (pictured), who joined Tailwind in 2008 after holding senior leadership positions at Meggitt Plc and Esterline.  "I look forward to leading this exciting combination of companies and capabilities", says Schmidt.  "The formation of Hartzell Aerospace is a natural progression as we seek to serve our customers simply and effectively."

Tailwind Technologies Inc. is the parent company of market-leading Hartzell Propeller Inc., Industrial Tube Company, Electrofilm Manufacturing Company and Acousticfab Inc. Founded in 1986 and based in Piqua, Ohio, Tailwind Technologies Inc. acquires and operates value-added manufacturing businesses in general aviation, aerospace and industrial sectors with a long-term growth strategy.
