CAF Will Showcase WWII Bombers And Fighters At Dallas Air Expo

FIFI Headlines A Lineup Of 16 Airplanes To Be Displayed

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) will showcase an elite collection of World War II aircraft during their CAF WWII Air Expo at Dallas Executive Airport Oct. 3 – 5, 2014.

Four of the most popular bombers from that era will be on the ramp including FIFI, the World’s only flying B-29 Superfortress. Other attending bombers include the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator and B-25 Mitchell. Vintage military fighters present will include a P-40 Warhawk and two P-51 Mustangs. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the bomber cockpits, visit educational displays and even purchase rides on many of the airplanes.

“Our team organized the WWII Air Expo as a way to thank residents for welcoming the CAF to North Texas,” said Stephan Brown, president and CEO of the Commemorative Air Force. “We will fill the Dallas sky with the largest fleet of World War II bombers and fighters in North Texas since the 1940s. It promises to be an unforgettable event that families, history aficionados and aviation enthusiasts will cherish for many years to come.”

The CAF WWII Air Expo begins Friday, October 3, and continues until Sunday, October 5, with three full days of historical programs and exhibits. Guests can visit the CAF Rise Above exhibit; a 160 degree panoramic theater where visitors watch a video highlighting the courage and determination of the Tuskegee Airmen. Veterans will also be on site to share their personal stories about their experiences during the war.

Ten of the historic aircraft, including FIFI, will be available for rides during the three-day event.
