Suffolk Breaks Ground At SW Florida International

Airport Expands With New Concourse E Project

Real estate and construction giant Suffolk announced the groundbreaking for a brand-new 14-gate Terminal E concourse at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), in the second phase of the airport’s expansion plan to allow up to 15,000 additional passengers per day to travel through the airport.

The project is preparing the airport for anticipated growth in passenger traffic over the next ten years, and will significantly redefine the airport’s landscape functionally and aesthetically.

The operational excellence and commitment to innovation of Suffolk strengthens the efficiency, safety, and project outcome to enhance RSW’s infrastructure.

Pete Tuffo, President of Florida Gulf Coast and National Gaming for Suffolk said, “Our collaborative and transparent approach to the early planning and preconstruction of aviation projects helps to address and resolve any challenges well before construction begins.

“Suffolk’s ability to successfully navigate complex projects and timelines without causing disruption to an airport’s ongoing operations is a testament to our meticulous planning and execution skills. Our unique approach helps to ensure airports remain fully functional and efficient throughout the entire construction process.”

2024 was a record-setting year for RSW with more than 11 million passengers in 12 months and the busiest December in the airport’s four-decade history.

The project includes airside improvements, terminal roadway modifications, passenger boarding bridges, and room for additional gates in the future.
