Bombardier Begins Manufacturing of its New Global 8000

‘World’s Fastest Business Jet’ Expected to Enter Service in 2025

Bombardier has recently begun manufacturing parts for its new Global 8000 aircraft, anticipated to be the fastest business jet in the civilian market. It is slated to enter service in the second half of 2025.

The company’s manufacturing facilities are based in Saint-Laurent, Québec; Red Oak, Texas; and Querétaro, Mexico.

The Global 8000 will provide speeds up to Mach 0.94 and an 8,000 nm range, positioning it as the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde. For reference, the aircraft will be able to conduct nonstop service from Dubai to Houston or Singapore to Los Angeles. Following close on its tail is the Cessna Citation X+ with a top speed of Mach 0.935; however, the Global 800 trumps its range by more than double.

The aircraft has endured almost 300 hours of flight testing so far, including those required for initial certification.

“The manufacturing process for what will be the industry’s fastest business jet, the impressive ultra-long-range Global 8000, has begun,” commented David Murray, Executive VP of Bombardier’s Manufacturing, IT, and Operational Executive System. “Our people’s mastery is behind the progress we are making at our production sites and underscores Bombardier’s culture of excellence, as well as our commitment to elevating the world of aviation.”

The manufacturer also aims to maximize comfort with the Global 8000. It will feature four living areas for passengers and a private crew rest space. Borrowing from a previous Bombardier model, the Global 7500, the new design can host a Principal Suite with a full-size bed and stand-up shower. Several upgrades to entertainment and connectivity will also be available.

Global 7500 owners have the option to purchase an upgrade package in light of the Global 8000 launch. It will provide higher speed, longer range, and lower cabin altitude for their existing business jets.

Nearly 5,000 Bombardier aircraft supported by 10 service facilities are currently flying worldwide.

“Our customers will soon be able to step aboard an aircraft that sets the standard as the fastest and longest-range purpose-built business aircraft in history, allowing them to reach destinations farther and faster than ever before,” expressed Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive VP of Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense.
