Engaged: Kyle Franklin, Amanda Younkin

Children Of Lost Air Show Performers To Wed In October

Aero-News has learned that the offspring of two air show performers killed during a performance at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in July have surpassed the tragedy to announce their wedding engagement.

Kyle Franklin and Amanda Younkin will be wed October 18th.

As Aero-News reported in real time, their fathers, Jimmy Franklin and Bobby Younkin, were killed when their aircraft collided during the Saskatchewan Centennial Air Show in Canada July 10th.

Jimmy 9below) and Bobby (above) were best friends. Each thought the other was the best pilot he'd ever known. Their families were close. Family members say it was only natural that Kyle and Amanda would fall in love.

"On August 1, 2005, Kyle Franklin asked Amanda Younkin for her hand in marriage," said a statement on Jimmy Franklin's web site. "With Amanda still asleep in her bed, Kyle flew his Cub to the Younkin's Fayetteville house, landed on the airstrip then proceeded to call her on the telephone.

"While she was still on the phone, her mom, Jeanie, hurriedly called Amanda downstairs to 'see something happening outside," the statement said.

"She stumbled down the stairs and goes outside to find Kyle, dressed in his Sunday best holding a beautiful bouquet of roses," the statement continued. "As he dropped to his knee and proposed, Amanda quietly said 'yes' and cried. Witnessing this beautiful moment was mom, Jeanie, brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Michelle, and Catana Wilson, very close family friend."

The wedding will take place in Ruidoso, NM on October 18, 2005.
