John Leahr, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 27, at the age of 94. Leahr had been one of the famed group of Black pilots that flew fighter escort for bomber missions during World War II.

He belonged to the 332nd Fighter Group, the Tuskegee Airmen, and flew bomber escort sorties in Europe. On April 8th through the 11th, ANN will be at the 2015 AEA convention from top to bottom…from beginning to end. We’ll provide daily reports on the Aero-News network website, and broadcast video reports on our daily Airborne Unlimited videocasts. Angel Flight West has announced the recipients of the 2015 Endeavor Awards presented each year to pilots who volunteer with the organization. The awards recipients are John Billings with Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic, Richard Durden with LightHawk and Stephen Purello of Angel Flight Southeast. Each organization represented by the award recipients will receive a $15,000 contribution from the Endeavor Awards Ceremony and Gala on May 30. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
