Skyservice Expands YVR Presence

Vancouver by Way of London

Skyservice Business Aviation—a Toronto-based provider of Fixed Base Operator (FBO) and aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services—has entered into a definitive agreement by which it will acquire the London Aviation Centre hangar facility at British Columbia, Canada’s Vancouver International Airport (YVR) from London Aviation Centre Ltd.. The transaction is expected to close in early November 2023.

Skyservice president and CEO Benjamin Murray stated: "Our ongoing investment in the region reflects our unwavering commitment to our clients. We firmly believe the expansion at Vancouver Airport, built on our foundation of safety and service excellence, is a crucial element in meeting the region's growing business aviation needs."

Skyservice’s acquisition of the London Aviation Centre YVR hangar facility expands the former concern’s FBO service and hangar offerings to a wider range of business aviation clients. All told, the acquisition affords Skyservice an additional 12,000-square-feet of on-airport office space available for lease, as well as 64,000-square-feet of hangarage capable of accommodating aircraft as large as Boeing’s 737 MAX BBJ and Airbus ACJ series jets.

Skyservice intends, also, to broaden its West Coast MRO operation by expanding its existing operations into the London Aviation Centre facility, thereby providing Vancouver-based clients a comprehensive and cohesive aviation experience.

Vancouver International Airport director of commercial development Michael Chubb asserted: "Skyservice is a valued partner for YVR as we expand our role as a diversified hub that connects people, cargo, data, and ideas in service of communities across BC. We look forward to building on our existing partnership to establish Vancouver as a regional business aviation hub. We also extend our gratitude to London Air Services for their long-standing relationship with YVR and the role they have played in supporting local businesses and communities."

Skyservice Vancouver recently earned the distinction of being named "Best Western Canada FBO" by the editors of Wings Magazine.

In October 2023, Skyservice invested significantly in Fontainebleau Aviation's two southern Florida FBO properties at Miami Opa-Locka Executive Airport (OPF) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Upon the transaction's customary approvals, Skyservice will own and operate a total of 13 FBOs and six MRO facilities across North America—two of which are devoted to heavy maintenance and avionics.
