Expands Capabilities in Gulfstream and Bombardier Airframes
Clay Lacy Aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities at its Waterbury-Oxford Airport (KOXC) and Van Nuys Airport (KVNY) repair stations have completed the first five installations of Starlink.
The company’s maintenance technicians installed the equipment in three Gulfstream G550s, a G650ER, and a Bombardier Global 6000. The satellite-based internet solution provides pilots and passengers in-flight high-speed connectivity for 4K video, online gaming, streaming, and virtual private networks as well as voice communication. Clay Lacy became one of the first authorized dealers and installers of Starlink just months ago.
Edward Diaz, Avionics Operations and Sales Manager for Clay Lacy said “There has been high demand for this transformative, connectivity technology. Our team is moving quickly to provide low-downtime, expertly completed installations so that owners and operators can get the most out of their aircraft. Starlink will enhance operations for crew members, as well as provide a better flight experience for travelers.”
Starlink operates the largest constellation of satellites with more than 4,700 in low-Earth orbit providing continuous multi-satellite comms with every Starlink antenna and guarantees reliable connectivity with worldwide coverage.
The low latency system consistently delivers high-quality streaming. Installation downtime is minimal since there is no need to tap into any onboard aircraft systems, only requiring power supply input to the aircraft, an antenna, power supply, and a router.
