President-Elect Trump Expected To Drop FL Airport Lawsuit

Had Filed Suit In 2015 Over Noise From Palm Beach County International Airport

A $100 million lawsuit filed by Donald Trump against Palm Beach County (FL) International Airport (KPBI) in 2015 will be dropped, according to representative for the President-Elect.

In an email, County Attorney Denise Nieman said that the county had been notified that the suit would be voluntarily dismissed.

Trump has been fighting flights over his Mar-a-Lago oceanfront club where he lives part time for some 20 years, according to a report from the McClatchy news service. But now that he has been elected President, the FAA will very likely put TFRs in place over the area when Trump is in town. Those VIP TFRs could become a regular occurrence should Trump decide to visit during his Presidency, which will create issues for pilots flying in and out of area airports.

County Commissioner Steven Abrams mused that the issue may have taken care of itself. "I think he has more important things on his agenda now," Abrams said.

The FAA has already established a TFR over Trump Tower in Manhattan during the billionaire's transition to POTUS.
