Hartzell Carbon Voyager Prop Gets STC For Skywagon

STC Extended For New Lightweight Three-Blade Prop

Hartzell Propeller announced that its Voyager propeller has received STC approval for the Cessna Skywagon, making it now available for Cessna 180, 182, 185, 206, and T206 single-engine aircraft with the Continental 470-50, 520, and 550 engines.

The advanced carbon fiber composite propellers are built on the performance of the metal Voyager prop introduced in 2019. The propeller is the next evolution of Hartzell’s purpose-built props for Cessna Skywagon owners and operators.

The propeller weighs just 54 pounds, 20.8 pounds lighter than the aluminum version, and is the lightest option on the market. It is certified for unlimited life, providing long-term value.

The Voyager is manufactured with aerospace-grade carbon fiber composite materials and it specifically engineered for the rigors of backcountry, off-airport operations. It is also durable against foreign object damage and has improved erosion resistance against environmental conditions.

The prop features a 2,400-hour or six-year Time Between Overhaul (TBO) with the industry’s longest warranty that extends through the first overhaul.

JJ Frigge, President of Hartzell Propeller said, “The original aluminum Voyager has earned its place as a popular propeller upgrade among the Cessna Skywagon community. Our new Carbon Voyager takes it to the next level of performance and durability, delivering three to four percent improvement in takeoff distances and climb performance, all with a significant weight reduction.”
