B-29 Doc History Restored Tour Returns To Chino In October

Yanks Air Museum Hosting Historic World War II Superfortress Bomber

The B-29 “Doc” History Restored Tour will be returning to Chino Airport (CNO) in California October 9-13, 2024 for a weekend stop at Yanks Air Museum.

1,644 B-29s like Doc were built in Wichita, Kansas, at the Boeing Company’s plant. Doc rolled off the assembly line 80 years ago in 1944. It is one of only two remaining B-29s along with Fifi that are airworthy and flying today.

B-29 Doc will arrive on Wednesday October 9, and will be available for ground and cockpit tours as well as flight experience rides throughout the weekend. While it is on the ground, visitors can climb up inside the aircraft through the forward bomb bay door to look around, tour the bomb bay, cockpit, and crew compartments of the historic aircraft. In addition, the dedicated crew that restored the aircraft will be available to meet and ask questions about the processes and efforts involved in bringing the aircraft back to airworthy condition.

Christen Wright, director of the Yanks Air Museum explained, “Our cherished alliance with Doc’s Friends, flourishing since 2019, enables us to preserve our shared American aviation heritage and inspire future generations. Join us in this journey of pride and preservation, purchase a ride or a boarding pass for an immersive tour of this iconic aircraft and our proud museum.”
