Finally, An A380 That Any Airport Can Accommodate

Airbus A380 Model In Denmark Possibly Largest Airplane Built Of LEGO Bricks

As a kid, your mother probably lamented over painfully stepping on the scattered little plastic pieces on the floor of your room, but your love of LEGO bricks never stopped.

For those of you who still remain dear to the iconic plaything, we present to you a LEGO model that any aviator would be proud to have in their den – the Singapore Airlines LEGO Airbus 380.

Unveiled in 2006, the massive model calls LEGOLAND in Billund, Denmark its home. Displayed along with models of world landmarks and buildings in “Miniworld”, the model is done as an exact 1:25 scale example of the massive airliner flown by Singapore Airlines.

“The A380 built of LEGO bricks retains the dimension and scale of the actual aircraft. However, working in LEGO bricks also puts the A380 into a scale that people, especially children, can appreciate and enjoy.” said David Atkins, Singapore Airlines’ General Manager in Scandinavia and Finland in 2006.

The model weighs a whopping 275 lbs using over 75,000 LEGO bricks. It stands 40 inches tall and has a wingspan of nearly ten and a half feet.

The model took a team of professional builders over 600 hours to construct the plane. Unfortunately the plane is not available in kit form, thus dashing any hopes to use it as a new contender in the light sport aircraft category!
