Cabin Connectivity Backbone For Business Aviation
Innovative Advantage, provider of the AVDS Node System for in-cabin connectivity for business aircraft, is celebrating its 20-year anniversary.
The AVDS is an audio/visual distribution backbone system that enables the integration of diverse hardware and software components of in-flight entertainment (IFE) into a single cabin management system (CMS).
The company was founded in 2005 by Richard and Sally Morris, who had the idea to create the aviation industry’s first audio/visual digital distribution system that would be engineered to integrate all the components of an aircraft’s in-flight entertainment and cabin management systems.
The company’s primary offering is the AVDS Node System or Audio, Video, and Data distribution backbone system that, for aftermarket aircraft, eliminates the challenges associated with figuring out how to connect different hardware and software components into a single system.
The AVDS Node forms a dual fiber optic ring that provides fault-tolerant architecture supporting gigabit ethernet for audio/visual on-demand, cabin connectivity, and other IFE/CMS capabilities. It enables excellent picture and sound quality regardless of the source device and has slots for twenty module cards to easily tailor the system to provide any capabilities the aircraft requires.
Greg Cornell, President of Innovative Advantage said, “I am incredibly excited to be celebrating our 20-year anniversary! Richard’s vision, leadership, and hard work was what started this company; the experience and diligence of the original crew is what got it off the ground; and every one of our passionate, talented team members is what’s going to take IA into the future. And of course, the last 20 years wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible customers – you are the reason for everything that we do.”
