AirText Adds New Text Communication Option

AirTextLT Keeps Commerce Flowing In Flight

By Gene Yarbrough

Satellite technology is nothing new to the modern person, however common communication methods such as SMS texting and voice calling at altitude in personal aircraft, or corporate, has not always been available -- or affordable. Airtext has developed two communication options to deliver seamless ability to communicate globally. The Airtext and AirtextLT sytems are both based on the Iridium satellite constellation and can accommodate up to 62 users simultaneously.

The system provides communication for both texting and voice and allows for other purposes such as dispatch communications, maintenance messages, and other critical needs like ATIS, ASOS, International METAR/TAF, FBOLink. The system delivers a cockpit annunciation or in-cabin annunciation to indicate a new message has been received via Bluetooth link.

AirtextLT is the newest product, which also provides voice communication and DATALink. The system is small, lightweight, and portable. At only 5 volt and 2-amp power draw, the system can be powered by a typical portable cell phone battery extender and is equipped with a USB power connector for plug and play functionality. The Airtext LT can be used in any vehicle including surface vehicles like boats, motorhomes, and motorcycles.

With satellite communication, a person can communicate verbally and textually with anyone in the world.
