President Trump May Come To Oshkosh

But TFR Could Be Problematic

ANN April 1 Special Edition (Parody)

Will all of the discussion about ATC privatization, President Donald Trump says he’d like to come to AirVenture Oshkosh 2017. But organizers say that the mandatory VIP TFR could be problematic.

Trump Tweeted that he understands that the event is “huge”, and with that many people in one place, he’d really like to “see what this private aviation thing is all about.”

In an exclusive interview with ANN, Trump said “I’ve been knocking around the world for years in a private Boeing 757 … great airplane, by the way. Outstanding airplane. Boeing builds a great airplane, you better believe me. And now Air Force One. But when it comes to the people, well general aviation is where the people are. And I’m all about the people, as you know. So, you know, I thought maybe I should check this AirVenture thing out.”

When informed of the possibility, all the color drained away from EAA Chairman Jack Pelton’s face. “Th … th … the logistics would be insurmountable,” Pelton said. “And then, there’s the TFR. Local pilots and businesses have been practically shut down near Mar-a-Lago when the President visits, and it’s been a lot. Can you imagine how many potential TFR busts there might be if Trump were at AirVenture? Really? And we already know the Secret Service won’t cut any slack on those things. I mean, we’d be honored to have the President come to visit us at EAA. Who wouldn’t. But during AirVenture?”

EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski said that it would be “very challenging” to prepare for the onslaught of national media that might descend on AirVenture for a Trump visit. “I’m not sure how our aviation press would react to being crowded out of the media tent by the national media. “And I don’t know where we’d set up the metal detectors, the increased security. Maybe if we did it later in the week when the press conference schedule is lighter … but I just don’t know.”

The white house had no comment.
