Aero-TV: Former Army Aviator Debuts Kid’s Book Series

‘Helo Girls’ Books Bring Realistic Helicopter Adventures to Life

Kodey Bogart, a former US Army Warrant Officer and Blackhawk pilot, recently put her passion for helicopters on paper through a new children’s book series: The Helo Girls. The stories introduce young readers to the world of helicopter flight through real aviation skills and safety practices.

Bogart's own aviation journey began when she joined the Army at 17 and took a morale flight, followed by surgery that opened the door to a flying career. She had a clear drive for the role, becoming the first female Pilot in Command for combat NVG operations in the Florida Army National Guard. Now, as a safety consultant and mom, Kodey saw a gap in children’s exposure to helicopter flight and created Helo Girls to fill it.

“When I had my children, I really couldn’t find books that highlighted helicopter missions accurately, safety-forward, and why not make it a female, of course,” she explained.

Each story follows a female helicopter pilot on a unique mission—firefighting, law enforcement, medical evacuation, and more. In Helo Girls: The Firefighting Pilot, readers team up with the main character and her crew to fight wildfires and save lives. In Helo Girls: The Law Enforcement Pilot, kids help Selma track down suspects and support officers from the sky.

The Helo Girls series is available on the official website, Amazon, and “everywhere books are sold.”
