MD Helicopters Gets Back To Business

After an extended period 'under the gun,' MD Helicopters seems to be working hard to get back to business as usual -- selling helicopters. Their most recent sales include one of Southern California's major law enforcement agencies, a major Turkish industrial company and two individuals -- one in the Czech Republic and one in Oregon.

The Huntington Beach Police Department, located in one of Southern California's most densely populated areas, has renewed its confidence in MD 520N(R) helicopters, ordering its fourth of the series.

The department, with one of the longest-running airborne law enforcement programs in the country, has operated MD 500 series helicopters for most of its 33 years in operation. The new MD 520N replaces a similar model that has accumulated more than 13,000 flight hours. Cumulatively, the department has flown more than 100,000 hours over its history, just over 22,000 hours in NOTAR(R)-equipped aircraft.

The Dortek Company, a leading Turkish industrial and commercial door manufacturer, has ordered an MD 600N(R) helicopter for its operations in Istanbul.

The company will use its aircraft for transporting personnel to various sites in and around Istanbul. MD Helicopter is represented in Turkey by Delta Trade and Consultancy of Ankara.

Two individuals, Patrik Snajdr of Klatvoy, CZ, and Paul Davis, of Corvallis, Ore., each ordered MD 520N aircraft. It is the first MD product for Snajdr but is the second for Davis, who previously operated an MD 500D. Both the MD 520N and the MD 600N feature the NOTAR system.
