Mr. Cheney Goes To Duluth

To Visit Cirrus Design!

President Bush visited Eclipse.

Vice President Cheney went to Adam Aircraft.

Now, the Bush campaign is sending Cheney and his wife, Lynne, to Duluth (MN) Wednesday for a town hall meeting at Cirrus Design.

"Of course we're extremely excited to be hosting the vice president of the United States," said Dale Klapmeier, Cirrus Design Corp.'s co-founder, in a prepared statement, adding, "We're honored and very pleased that they would choose Cirrus." He was quoted by the Duluth News-Tribune.

Cheney will visit Cirrus's main plant at Duluth International Airport, built with the help of a $3.5 million federal grant from the Economic Development Administration.

The News-Tribune reported Cheney's 1050 EDT visit will follow a breakfast for business leaders. It wasn't clear whether the general public would be allowed into the town hall meeting.

Will Cirrus shut down the production line for this VIP encounter? Spokeswoman Kate Andrews said no way.

"As excited as we are to have the second-most powerful man in the world visiting, at the end of the day, we're still a business and our business is to build airplanes," she told the News-Tribune. "We can't stop production when we have eager customers waiting."
