New LSA To Be Manufactured In Hondo, TX

Company Unveiled Its First Airplane In A Celebration At South Texas Regional Airport

Texas Aircraft Company unveiled its first Colt aircraft during a celebration that had many of the trappings of a Hollywood premier on February 22 at South Texas Regional Airport in Hondo, TX.

The Hondo Anvil Herald reports that the airplane was introduced by Texas Aircraft CEO Matheus Grande. In his opening remarks Grande said that airplane is the only LSA to be manufactured using an aviation-grade aluminum structure, an all-metal chrome moly fuselage frame, and solid metal rivets. "The Colt is truly a rugged and  beautiful airplane, inside and out," Grande said.

Grande and his partners, Caio Jordäo, Carlos Barros, Diego Jordäo and Samantha Munro, have an aviation pedigree from Brazil. Grande said that Jordäo had developed and produced more than seven different aircraft and sold more than 400 airplanes while leading a small Brazilian airplane company. He said the Colt was inspired by the Inpaer Conquest 180 designed by Jordäo.

Grande said that Texas Aircraft is the only American company to produce a high-wing, semi-cantilevered aircraft using a mix of aluminum, composites and metal rivets. but the company is already looking to the future.

"We have already started research and development on 'e-aircraft' and very soon, will show this to the world," he said.

Texas Aircraft plans to bring the Colt to AirVenture this July, according to the report. At that time we can all learn more about the airplane, as the company website is currently only a splash page with the message "Coming Soon".
