Universal Avionics Offers New ADS-B Out STC Data Package

STC For Universal Avionics SBAS-FMS And Honeywell RCZ-833 Transponders To Assist With Field Approval Installations Meets U.S. And European ADS-B Out Mandates

The FAA has granted Supplemental Type Certification (STC) to Universal Avionic or the UNS-1Xw SBAS-Flight Management System (FMS) and Honeywell RCZ-833 (DO-260B compliant) transponders to meet the U.S. and European mandates for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out in 2020.

The STC can be used on a large group of aircraft platforms, including: Cessna Citations, Beechcraft Hawkers, Dassault Falcons, Learjets, and Embraers. Universal Avionics is providing the data package to the company’s Authorized Dealer and Integrator Network at no charge to assist with field approval installations.

“Universal’s SBAS-FMS is the first step in preparing for the FAA’s NextGen and Europe’s SESAR,” said Carey Miller, Universal Avionics Director of Corporate Programs and Business Development. “Not only does the SBAS-FMS enable ADS-B Out, but also PBN and Data Comm, including CPDLC Departure Clearances in U.S. domestic airspace,” he added.

ADS-B out already offers many available benefits today. Besides increased coverage, aircraft that are currently equipped for ADS-B Out also realize improved situational awareness and safety, and reduced separation between aircraft.
