Gogo AVANCE Surpasses 1,000 Successful System Software Updates

Remote Process Boosts Fleet Efficiencies

Gogo Business Aviation announced its Over-the-Air (OTA) feature has enabled completion of more than 1,000 AVANCE system software updates in aircraft around the world.

The hands-free remote process reduces software upgrade time by an estimated 83% compared to the previous USB kit method, which required operators to update each plane manually. Gogo rolled out its OTA software updates in November 2023 in an industry first, and the reduction in software upgrade time has significantly enhanced fleet efficiency.

The OTA feature was launched in conjunction with the AVANCE v4.4 update and the company reports it has become the fastest-adopted software update in Gogo’s 30-year history. AVANCE users can use the Gogo DASH app toolkit to easily access the upgrade procedure. The platform provides an array of in-flight cabin connectivity for work, entertainment, and voice solutions.

Sanjeev Nagpal, SVP of product management for Gogo said, “OTA addresses the largest problem we’ve heard from our fleet customers: updating aircraft positioned around the world. OTA eliminates this logistical issue and makes access to our most up-to-date and value-add features easier than ever.”

Gogo, based in Broomfield, Colorado, provides broadband connectivity services for business aviation market. Its cabin systems are customizable and are installed on all sizes and types of business aircraft, from turboprops to the largest jets. As of September 2023 the company reported  that 7,150 business aircraft had its broadband Air-to-Ground (ATG) internet systems installed, with a little more than half of them utilizing the AVANCE connectivity platform and the rest using satellite connections.
