7 Injured In Florida Crash Of Orlican M-8 Eagle

Aircraft Went Down Near Lake Shortly After Takeoff

Seven people were injured when a Czech-made single-engine Orlican M-8 Eagle (an aircraft that has been the subject of some concern) struggled to gain altitude after taking off from Palm Beach County Park Airport (KLNA) in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The aircraft clipped the roof of a car before impacting the ground.

The two onboard the Eagle were reported to be at Trauma Alert criteria and were taken to the Palm Beach County Trauma Center. The five occupants of the car, one adult and four children, were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The aircraft sustained severe damage to the nose and the car had minor damage to its roof.

Thankfully there were no fatalities.

ADS-B data suggested the  aircraft struggled to climb after departing Runway 10 at LNA. Weather was clear with visibility 10 sm and light winds of 8-10 kts from 080.
