Virgin Google, Inc. Formed For Lunar Exploitation

Parts Of The Moon May Become Privately Owned

ANN April 1 Special Edition

It’s a well-accepted fact that Apollo 11 was the first manned lunar landing and that Neil Armstrong was the first human to set foot on the moon. During this event, the planting of the American flag was well documented, but the United States made it clear the planting of the flag did not represent claiming territory.

While this benevolent act on the part of the United States makes it clear that the moon is not U.S. property, does this prevent anyone else from claiming it? Apparently, Virgin Galactic’s Sir Richard Branson and Google founder and CEO Larry Page may be making moves towards testing moon ownership.

One of our crack ANN investigative reporters, while trying to find a way to cure insomnia, started reading the Wall Street Journal and found a small article stating that a company named, “Virgin Google, Inc.” has recently been incorporated. While this caused our investigator to lose even more sleep, his continued investigation led to a startling discovery.

It seems that Virgin Galactic’s business plan of charging “one-percenters” outrageous fees to take limited spaceflights is actually a cover for developing a manned spaceship capable of reaching the moon and returning to earth. It has also been found that the Google Lunar XPRIZE is more than a private project for the sake of science and learning to place a robotic lunar landing vehicle on the moon. The technology learned from the XPRIZE project is easily transferable to a manned lunar lander. The clear conclusion of our investigation is that Virgin Google, Inc. plans to go to the moon.

Our reporter then sought legal advice regarding whether or not it is possible for Virgin Google, Inc. to claim the moon as its own. Our legal experts, who did not want to be named for fear of being sued, stated it is unlikely a private company can claim the entire moon. However they pointed out that, “There is nothing we have found that would prevent a private company from staking claim to certain limited properties or unlimited mineral rights.”

Virgin Google is at this time a privately held company, but it has been reported that mega billionaire, Warren Buffett, has expressed an interest in these developments. This leads to the question of, is the name “Moon” a registered trademark?
