AD: Bombardier, Inc., Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-23-04

PRODUCT: Certain Bombardier, Inc., Model DHC-8-102, -103, and -106 airplanes; Model DHC-8-200 series airplanes; and Model DHC-8- 300 series airplanes.

ACTION: Final Rule.

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by a report that a certain modification to the auto relight system is incompatible with a certain beta lockout system modification and could result in deactivation of the auto ignition feature of the No. 2 engine.

This AD requires an inspection of the auto ignition system and applicable rectification.

DATES: This AD is effective March 15, 2019.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 185 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • Inspection: 1 work-hour × $85 per hour = $85
  • Rectification: 3 work-hours × $85 per hour = $255. Parts: $6. Cost per airplane: $261
