Aviation Community Urged To Sign Online Petition Against FAA Event Fees

But Time Is Short, The Deadline For Signing Electronically Is 2:30 PM EDT Tuesday

In recent weeks the FAA notified the EAA that they would be responsible for some of the costs incurred for using FAA air traffic controllers at Oshkosh this year, and the price tag was pushing half a million dollars.

In response to the move, a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators is asking their colleagues to sign a letter to the FAA Administrator in support of GA and opposed to putting a price tag on GA safety. EAA says that the best way to help convince lawmakers to join their colleagues is hearing from their state's constituents. The organization has established a website where anyone can add their electronic signature to the letter, but there is a sense of urgency. The letter closes for electronic signatures at 2:30 PM EDT today (Tuesday, June 4)

After signing, visitors are directed to a second page where they may send an e-mail to their senators prepared by EAA government affairs.

Your name does not have to appear.

EAA says that "(b)y threatening to deny air traffic services to the busiest airport in the world without a hefty bill, FAA is signalling that general aviation safety is not important - despite their mandate to provide for the safety of the entire National Airspace System."
