FAA Grants STC To MT-Propeller For GippsAero GA8 And GA8 TC-320 Airvan

Follows EASA STC On Same Aircraft

The FAA has granted an STC to MT-Propeller (SA03845NY) for the installation of the company's next generation 3-blade scimitar MTV-9-B/200-58 composite propeller on GippsAero GA8 and GA8 TC-320 Airvan aircraft powered by Lycoming engines.

EASA previously granted a similar STC (10054488) for the installation.

MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht said that the installation will improve takeoff distance and climb performance by approximately five percent while reducing weight by 25 pounds. It will also boost cruise performance by two to three knots, the company claims.

Aircraft powered by the Lycoming TIO-540 with a MTOW of 1814 kg  will be able to comply with the strict German Noise Regulations 2010 "Landeplatz Lärmschutz Verordnung" for unrestricted airport operations in Germany and other European Countries.

The MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitation, and are repairable in case of an damage by foreign objects.

The company says the prop also provides vibration damping characteristics that make for almost vibration free propeller operation, and have bonded on stainless steel leading edges for best erosion protection of the blades.
