Concorde's Final Flight: October 24, 2003

Book Now, or Forever Hold Your Ears...

The world has fewer than four months, to behold the most marvelous passenger plane of all time. The Concordes of British Airways will cease operations on October 24, after a final flight from JFK to Heathrow. Air France stopped flying the delta-winged wonders on May 31.

British Airways says that 1000 lucky Britons will get a free Concorde flight, in a ticket giveaway next month.

A Reuters report says the disposition of the remainder of BA's fleet of the Aerospatiale creations could read thus: "...the planned fifth terminal at London's Heathrow airport, the U.S.S. Intrepid aircraft carrier on the Hudson River in New York, Manchester airport in northern England and London's Science Museum."

The report wasn't clear just how the Concorde would do that carrier thing... [but how much money would you give just to see the attempt? --E-I-C]
