FAA Certifies Max-Viz EVS For Global Express

Unique System Ready To Fly

The FAA has certified Max-Viz's enhanced vision system in a move the company says is a "milestone for our industry." The FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) was awarded for installation of the Max-Viz EVS-1000 Enhanced Vision System on the Bombardier Global Express. The FAA STC now complements the Transport Canada STC received earlier this year.

According to Max-Viz, development and manufacture of Enhanced Vision Systems for aviation, the EVS-1000 is the only system certified and ready for installation in all Global Express Aircraft currently in service. The Max-Viz EVS 1000 allows Global Express operators to opt for one or two instrument level EVS displays, depending on their own specific requirements.

"The market advantage for us is that our EVS-1000 system requires no Heads-Up-Guidance (HUD) system thereby differentiating Max-Viz over all our competitors," said Roger Watson, Vice President and Chief Design Officer at Max-Viz Inc. "Not only are we the first to offer Global Express operators with the safety benefits of our EVS system, we completed the start-to-finish system within three months of completion of the work on aircraft number one."

Watson added, "Global Express operators now have the safety benefits of Enhanced Vision available to them (now offered to Falcon 50, 900 and Challenger operators) without the cost, weight, reliability, training and space penalties associated with Head-Up-Guidance/EVS system."

A second US North East based Global Express aircraft was outfitted with the Max-Viz EVS 1000 and delivered in March. Montreal based ABC Completions oversaw the design, installation and certification of the EVS system on the aircraft.

Max-Viz and some of its global network of 30 dealers in 52 different facilities currently hold U.S. Supplemental Type Certifications (STC) for the Bell 212/412, Challenger-600, 601 and 604, Global Express, Falcon 50/50EX, and the Falcon 900A, B, C and EX. STC’s are also currently pending for the Sikorsky S-76, the Gulfstream-IV/IVSP, the Pilatus PC-12, the EC-145, Lear 35 and Beech 200/350. Most of these STC’s are expected to be in place by mid-2004.

The EVS-2000 Enhanced Vision System, specifically developed for Cessna by Max-Viz is also a standard factory option on the Citation X and is anticipated to be offered on the Sovereign following that aircraft’s type certification later this year.
