Gear Collapse Damages Adam-500

Electrical Failure Blamed For Left Main Failure

Authorities at Page Field in Fort Myers, FL, said an Adam Aircraft A500 was "slightly damaged" when the left main landing gear collapsed shortly after the aircraft landed Wednesday night. Two people were on board the aircraft -- neither was hurt, according to a spokeswoman for the Lee County Port Authority.

It happened at around 1930 after the aircraft made several local trips. The A500, an inline prop-driven aircraft, is registered to the manufacturer as an experimental. It had been seen for several days making local trips around southwest Florida.

Runway 23 at Page Field was closed temporarily as the damaged aircraft was towed to a local FBO. Officials said the pilot of the aircraft never declared an emergency. What caused the landing gear collapse? Port Authority spokeswoman Laska Ryan said the pilot blamed an electrical failure.
