Vietjet Chooses PurePower Engine For A320neo, A321neo Order

Will Power Fleet Of 63 Aircraft With Deliveries Beginning Next Year

Vietjet has signed a Definitive Agreement for the PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine to power their order of 63 Airbus A320neo and A321neo family of aircraft. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2017.

The PurePower Geared Turbofan engine family has about 7,000 orders, including options, with more than 70 customers from more than 30 countries.

"We are very pleased to choose the PurePower Geared Turbofan engine for our Airbus A320neo and A321neo family fleets. With its advanced design of less fuel costs and CO2 emissions, the new engines are expected to boost the carrier's efficiency and protect environment as well as enable Vietjet to offer passengers more affordable air fares," said Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet's president and CEO.

"We take great pride in Vietjet selecting the game-changing Geared Turbofan engine to power their aircraft fleet," said Rick Deurloo, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Pratt & Whitney. "Customers continuously recognize that this engine represents the pinnacle of modern aviation technology with unmatched double-digit reductions in fuel burn, noise and emissions."

The PurePower engine family has completed more than 48,000 cycles and 30,000 hours of testing.
