Boeing Picks Avtech For AWACS Flight Deck Systems

Will Provide FDCS For Block 40-45 Upgrade

Avtech Corporation announced today that it has been selected by Boeing to provide a Flight Deck Communications System (FDCS) for the E-3 AWACS Block 40-45 upgrade. The system will be comprised of an Audio Management Unit, Flight Deck Interface Unit and four Audio Control Panels. The system interfaces with an Audio Switching Unit (ASU) in the mission area of the aircraft facilitating flight deck-to-mission area communications.

The new digital system replaces the legacy analog system and will use digital technology to process the audio signals. The system will provide superior signal-to-noise and crosstalk performance compared to its' analog predecessor and is based upon Avtech's Boeing 777 digital system, standard aboard all B777 aircraft.

Avtech Corporation, a business unit of Aviation Technologies Inc., is a world leader in flight deck communications. Avtech's audio systems are standard equipment aboard Boeing's 717, 737, 777 and optional equipment aboard the 767 aircraft.
