AirPower History Tour Stops In Wyoming

Features Legendary CAF Aircraft Rides, Cockpit Tours

The Commemorative Air Force’s AirPower History Tour is deep into its nationwide journey with cockpit tours, rides, presentations, and discussions to bring a true sense of history along with the historic airplanes that helped shape the events that made them famous.

Aircraft such as the B-29 Superfortress Fifi, B-24 Liberator Diamond Lil, P-51 Mustang Gunfighter, AT-6 Texan Nella, and many others help audiences understand a little part of what their crews experienced during World War II. The tour is being led by the B-29/B-24 Squadron and its volunteer crew.

During a recent stop at Cheyenne Regional Airport (CYS) in Wyoming, Governor Mark Gordon received a full cockpit tour from the crew, and also read a proclamation citing the significance of Wyoming’s heritage in aviation. He also held a reception at the Governor’s Residence to show his appreciation of the CAF and its crew members who are making the tour enjoyable and meaningful for all guests.

CAF Col. Ellie Dana, a Wyoming resident and WASP Squadron Unit Leader, spoke on behalf of the CAF and its commitment to safety. She said, “These folks are all performing at a required professional level, as volunteers, appearing here and elsewhere to honor those that have come before us, as well as inspire others to be part of the future of aviation. And, of course, we love these planes and are actively engaged in preserving these historic treasures. For each of us who are here, there are hundreds in the background making this possible.”
