Make Your Plans Now For The 2006 National Cross Country Air Races

Race Series Runs From July 16-23, Ends Near OSH

Looking for a little something to do in the weeks leading up to Oshkosh? Well, what better way is there to spend those weeks than participating in an air race, that ends within spitting distance (well, almost) of AirVenture 2006?

Now in it's eleventh year, the US Air Race, Inc. presents one week of unmatched camaraderie and competition with the 2006 National Cross Country Air Races, July 16-23, 2006. Three racing events are open to all pilots and all piston powered aircraft. These handicapped speed races put the pilot’s skills on the line flying 2400 miles.

It all starts in Hutchinson, KS with the Hutchinson 300. This is a one-day, non-stop event with navigation flown by pilotage only. This race may be entered singly and awards are given at the end of the event. The Hutchinson 300 is the first leg toward the overall award, The Marion Jayne Perpetual Trophy.

Next, on July 19 the flag drops on the 1800 mile Marion Jayne Air Race. All navigation instruments and aids are allowed with three days on the course to the finish line at Stevens Point, WI. The route has mandatory fueling stops at Akron, CO; Rapid City, SD; Wolf Point, MT; Devils Lake, ND; and Orr, MN and provides some of the most spectacular scenery our great country has to offer.

The exciting climax of the week will be the Stevens Point 300, a non-stop, pilotage-only race. Pilots flying this event only will receive their award on the same day as the event, July 23 -- along with the winners of the Marion Jayne Air Race and the perpetual trophy.

Stevens Point, WI also provides a "Gateway to Oshkosh" with the Cessna Owners Association and Piper Owners Association Conventions taking place there July 21-23, 2006 along side the National Air Races. Stevens Point is approximately 70 miles northeast of Oshkosh.

The US Air Race, Inc. is proud of its perfect safety record, and welcomes all pilots to challenge themselves and experience the thrill of cross country air racing. Cash, trophies prizes, and scholarships are also awarded.
