Russian 'Bear' Being Auctioned On eBay

Demilitarized Soviet-Era TU-95MS Bomber Up For Bids, Or You Can 'Buy It Now'

A Soviet-era TU-95MS strategic bomber has popped up on the online auction site eBay, and while there have been no bids as of this writing, you can "Buy It Now" for $5 million. The minimum bid is $3 million.

The listing does not say whether the airplane is in flying condition. The German company offering the airplane says it was acquired from a partner in Ukraine, perhaps ironically. It is listed as being "demilitarized with all documents in order and ready for shipment," and the sale price does include the cost of shipping the airplane, disassembled, to the harbor of Nikolaiev or Odessa. It is currently located in Dnjepopetrowsk, Ukraine, according to the listing.

The company also appears willing to part out the Bear. "We can therefore disassemble the Plane so [you] can get one or all of the turbines exclusively. Or the Plane without the Turbines [separate]."

The listing does contain several typographical errors. So as with all such things, caveat emptor.
