Frontier, JetBlue Rally Behind The 'Home' Teams

Each Will Show World Series Games On Planes

Eager to show its pride for the hometown baseball team, Denver-based Frontier Airlines announced it will show World Series games onboard its planes. The Colorado Rockies face the Boston Red Sox in the latest Fall Classic showdown.

The games will be broadcast onboard Frontier Airlines mainline planes by DirecTV. Obtaining permission to show the games required some fancy legal footwork, as the airline's contract with the satellite television provider doesn't normally cover the Fox Network.

"It has taken a lot of coordination and effort ... to make this happen," Frontier spokesman Joe Hodas told The Associated Press. "We're so appreciative that we'll be able to show the games to our passengers."

Frontier charges $5 for the satellite-TV service, which is available on 60 Airbus planes.

Red Sox fans shouldn't feel let down, though. New England-based JetBlue Airways (well, Queens, NY... but the Mets aren't in the Series) will also show World Series games on its planes... and that carrier doesn't charge for the service.

That could make for some animated conversations among passengers. Frontier doesn't offer service from Denver to Boston -- it sends those fliers to partner AirTran Airways -- but JetBlue does offer direct service between the two cities.

Everyone behave...
