UASC Receives FAA Approval For ATN B1 CPDLC For Link 2000+

Includes Optional Configuration For ATN B1 CPDLC And Context Management Required For European CPDLC ATN B1 Mandate

Universal Avionics Software Version SCN 31.1 for the UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) has received FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO). The software upgrade provides an optional configuration for Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Baseline 1 (ATN B1) Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and Context Management functions required for the European mandate, formerly known as Link 2000+. Aircraft operating in European airspace will need to be equipped for ATN B1 CPDLC by February 5, 2020.

UniLink SCN 31.1 provides baseline software and user interface improvements in addition to the ATN B1 CPDLC capability available as an optional configuration. In addition, UniLink SCN 31.1 also includes an update to VHF Data Radio (VDR) Software Version SCN 10.3 for the UL-801 CMU.

"We are pleased to be able to help our operators prepare for the future of our airspace worldwide, including the rapidly approaching European ATN B1 CPDLC mandate and U.S. ATN initiatives as well," said Dan Reida, Universal Avionics Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "The new UniLink software features FANS and ATN B1 CPDLC message harmonization, which addresses industry requirements for operational consistency and human factors for operators flying in both continental Europe and oceanic airspace," he added.

The UniLink UL-800/801 CMU can be installed on a wide range of platforms, even those with a third party Flight Management System (FMS). For increased installation flexibility, the UniLink UL-801 model features an internal VDR that saves weight and space (no need to install a dedicated system).
