Japan Coast Guard Expands Airbus H225 Fleet to 18

Japan Coast Guard Adds 3 New H225 Super Pumas

The Japan Coast Guard has recently expanded its fleet by adding three new H225 helicopters, raising its total number of these aircraft to 18. This acquisition marks another step in the JCG's long-standing relationship with Airbus Helicopters, reflecting their trust and satisfaction with the Super Puma family, which has been in service with them for three decades.

These additional helicopters will play a crucial role in enhancing the JCG's operational capabilities across a range of missions, including maritime law enforcement, coastal and island protection, and disaster relief efforts. The H225s are noted for their versatility and reliability in all weather conditions, which are essential attributes for the demanding operations of the Japan Coast Guard.

Jean-Luc Alfonsi, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Japan, emphasized the strategic importance of these helicopters to the JCG's mission readiness. He stated that the H225 is ideally suited for the critical tasks JCG undertakes due to its high performance, excellent range, and advanced avionics that reduce pilot workload and enhance focus on missions.

Furthermore, the JCG's H225 fleet is supported by Airbus' HCare Smart program, which offers comprehensive material support on a full-by-the-hour basis. This allows the JCG to concentrate on their core operations with the assurance that their fleet remains mission-ready and supported by Airbus' extensive service network.

The H225 model, part of the renowned Super Puma family, is distinguished by its outstanding endurance, fast cruise speed, and ability to be equipped for various roles, making it a versatile asset in the diverse operations of the JCG and other Japanese agencies, including the Ministry of Defence. These helicopters are used for a wide range of activities, from VIP transport to search and rescue, fire-fighting, and more, showcasing their broad operational utility in Japan's extensive rotorcraft activities.
