I-Hart Flying Offers Two Scholarships For Women

Need For New Pilots And Opportunities Drives Organization

By: Maria Morrison

The I-Hart Flying organization is committed to providing scholarship opportunities for women interested in aviation, and they celebrated their one-year anniversary of their partnership with EAA this year at AirVenture. In honor of the milestone, they announced the start of their Eagles Soar, Hearts Explore scholarships.

The scholarship opportunity, offered to women of all ages and experience levels, is in partnership with EAA Chapter 43. The two winners will each get $5000 to facilitate their flight training, a Bose A20 headset, a Kings School bundle pack, and gift certificates to two different aviation clothing lines. The I-Hart scholarship was started because “we all need more pilots.” Rachelle, founder of the program, was given a scholarship that allowed her to get her pilot’s certificate, and she said that she “knows how big of an impact a scholarship can have on someone.”

Rachelle says that the scholarship could not have happened without the support from Chapter 43, which is based out of Denver. She described it as “a very active chapter that’s very focused on finding more pilots.” By working with I-Hart Flying, they are looking to provide “opportunity and exposure” to more young prospective pilots. “The cool thing about EAA is that it’s a worldwide organization but you’ve got a group of friends at every airport you go to.”

Rachelle saw that there were not many flight scholarship opportunities for women over 30. It was her goal to offer five a year, but that has already been met. The awarding of these two scholarships will simply add to that total. The Eagles Soar, Hearts Explore scholarship ends on August 10th, and I-Hart Flying is promoting it on all social media platforms.
