Former Massachusetts Transportation Official Nominated To NTSB

Beverly Scott Resigned As MBTA General Manager In February

The former head of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has been nominated by President Obama for a position on the NTSB.

Beverly Scott resigned as head of the MBTA in February after the system was unable to cope with record snowfall which resulted in extensive and long-lasting delays across an aging transportation system, according to a report from television station WCBV.

The Washington Post reports that a commission appointed by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker (R) had issued a report strongly critical of the agency's performance during the snow event shortly before she resigned.

Prior to her position in Boston, Scott had been general manager of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.

Scott must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate for the position on the board. If she is confirmed, her term will last five years.
