Asian Introduction For Embraer Military Turboprop

Super Tucano Turboprop Debuts At Singapore

Embraer will show their Super Tucano military trainer aircraft for the first time on the Asian continent during Asian Aerospace 2006, one of the three biggest aviation trade events in the world. The event opens on February 21 at the Changi Exhibition Center, in Singapore.

The Super Tucano will take a tour of Asia and the Middle East after the trade show, when a number of air forces will have the opportunity to evaluate the airplane. The aircraft departed from Brazil in early February and covered 11,500 nautical miles (21,298 km).

Super Tucano is an evolution of the original Tucano turboprop trainer, of which 650 are in operation with approximately 17 air forces worldwide, including those in Brazil, Britain, France, Egypt and Kuwait. The aircraft is available in single-and-two-seat versions, and is being marketed to air forces around the world.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) ordered 99 Super Tucano aircraft, of which 25 are already in service. The fleet is in operation in advanced training missions and is also deployed alongside eight other Embraer-built Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) jets in the Amazon Surveillance Program (SIVAM).

In December 2005, the Colombian air force announced an order for 25 Super Tucano light attack aircraft, marking the first export deal ever for this type of aircraft. Embraer forecasts demand for 150 to 200 Super Tucanos in Asia and the Middle East over the coming five years.
