Air Force Academy Prep Student Found Responsible For Racists Graffiti

Had Claimed To Be The Target Of The Racist Remarks

Racist messages scrawled on dormitory message boards and the doors of some black students at the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School were put there by one of the students supposedly targeted by the actions, according to an investigation by the academy.

The Washington Post reports that the the academy announced the findings from its investigation on Tuesday. One of the cadet candidates supposedly targeted by the racist messages admitted responsibility for the acts. Academy spokesman Lt. Col. Allen Herritage said in a statement that the admission was validated by the investigation, and added "Racism has no place at the academy, in any shape or form.”

The academy has not identified the cadet candidate responsible for the slurs, but the individual is no longer enrolled at the school, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. Sources told that paper that the candidate was facing trouble at the school for other misconduct, and the racist graffiti was an attempt to get out of that trouble.
