Electric-Powered Aviation At AirVenture 2018

Pipistrel's display at AirVenture this year had a heavy emphasis on electric aircraft. Among the advancements on display was the company's electrically powered training aircraft, the Pipistrel ALPHA Electro LSA – which is currently in production. The company also had the Pipistrel Taurus Electro, one of the first two seat electric aircraft to see serial production, at the show.

Pipistrel's Solar Trailer, which is capable of recharging your electric aircraft allowing you to “Fly for Free” via its zero cost/zero emission propulsion system, was unveiled at AirVenture 2018. The company also brought the X-Alpha VR Trainer, which Pipistrel says is the world’s first full-size, immersive VR trainer for LSA category aircraft. The simulator accurately emulates the flight characteristics and performance of several of Pipistrel’s most popular aircraft models.

The company also displayed its SkyCharge system, the first EV charging station designed exclusively for electric powered aircraft.
